The Street Piano

Have you ever seen one? It is a mobile piano bar that was built by Ed to play on the streets of the French Quarter in New Orleans The piano sets on a platform dolly and has large tires which enables it to easily be pushed and roll over curbs.  It is a Japanese Yaseu 48 inch studio piano similar to a U1 Yamaha . The cabinet has been altered and a glass front install so that when it is played the audience can see the hammers move in the exposed action. On the back side of the instrument a lid from another piano is hinged and hangs on chains to support the drinks and other refreshments that are placed on this bar . There are three stools which can be carried along with the piano as it rolls to it's destination to entertain tourist or guests for a particular occasion. The stools are placed near the make shift bar so that the guests can enjoy the music being played on the piano as they drink and eat. It is easy for them to request tunes at the same time. There is also a map of the city of New Orleans so that they can get directions to there next destination. Now isn't that convenient !
The piano can be used in many applications. It is great for parties, sing alongs, grand openings, barbeques. festivals and other outdoor events. The pictures shown here in the slide show were taken at a chamber after hours event in Hammond Louisiana. The theme was a Hawaiian Luau.  The piano was decorated with large brightly colored flowers and hula girls. The musicians were wearing tropical flowered shirts. The audience had a great time listening to the lively music , singing along and participating in the fun. Another picture in the slide show shows the piano in full Mardi Gras attire ! This  concept  can make your next event unique, fun and successful. The piano can be decorated to enhance the theme of any event . The music can also be tailored to the occasion also.  The Stars and Stripes Forever could be played for a Fourth of July celebration or White Christmas could be play for a Christmas parade or tree lighting. The possibilities are endless as the piano is acoustic and no electricity is needed.
